About us

“There is a great need for living Christian Communities! And here are the movements and the new ecclesial Communities. They are the response given by the Holy Spirit, to this critical challenge at the end of millennium. You are this providential response.”

John Paul II’s address to Members of Ecclesial Movements and New Communities May 30, 1998

A community of disciples on mission

We are a community of families and singles in the Twin Cities who love and serve one another, building deep relationships and sharing a common way of life.

We live our Catholic faith in a practical daily way, calling one another on to walking more closely with Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.

We work together for the spread of the Gospel, especially through evangelistic and formative work among young people and families.

  • is ccr endorsed by the catholic church?

Yes!  CCR is a “private association of the Christian faithful*”, an approved canonical organization in the Catholic Church, under the authority of the Archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis.  New movements like CCR have been strongly affirmed by the Church, including our recent popes.

  • What’s up with the lively worship and charismatic stuff?

One of the first things you notice when you walk into a CCR gathering is the enthusiastic worship!  We love to worship the Lord freely, using our bodies and lifting our voices to him in praise and gratitude for who he is and all he’s done.  This style of worship is old and traditional, prevalent in the Bible and the early Church.  It has become more common again in recent decades through the “charismatic renewal”, which emphasizes the role of the Holy Spirit in the Christian life, including growing in the charismatic gifts (see 1 Corinthians 12), and has been encouraged by the Church.

  • What is the commitment?

In communities like CCR, commitments are the backbone of building strong and stable relationships and environments that endure.  No commitment is needed to simply get to know CCR.  If someone desires to go further, there are three main stages:

    • “Initial” commitment to formation, small group, and some other aspects of CCR life.

    • “Underway” commitment to participate fully in CCR for a period of time, e.g. 1-2 years.

    • Public commitment to CCR long-term whereby we commit ourselves to one another and to the mission of CCR indefinitely.  We’re in it together, through thick and thin for the long haul.

  • how can i get involved?

In the Community of Christ the Redeemer, our members are lay men and women, singles and married couples, who as laity, live and work in the everyday world. They have joined their lives together in order to:

  • Actively pursue holiness of life
  • Love one another as brothers and sisters in Christ
  • Work together for the spread of the Gospel and building up of Christian life in today’s world

The Community’s goal is to foster and strengthen a practical way of daily living that is rooted in the life that we share in Christ. Our desire is to be disciples on mission together.

We are a Catholic Charismatic Covenant Community established in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis and are a member of The Sword of the Spirit.
